Hamsters and chicks and 100th day...oh my!

Snickers the Hamster Needs Home for February Break
Anyone interested in taking Snickers home for February break?  I'll supply everything you need.  You just need to pick him up and drop him off.  If you are interested, please e-mail me at farmer@bpsk12.org

Chick Hatching
I'm sure you have heard by now that we hatched chicks from eggs in an incubator.  What a special learning experience supplied by the Science Center.  Thank you Ms. P!  We observed and documented the experience in our Chick Hatching Journals.

Valentine's Day
I have sent home a list of all the children's names in Room 111 if your child chooses to write out Valentines to his/her friends.  Please email m if the list did not make it home and I'll send another.  We will exchange Valentines on Tuesday afternoon.  Due to our allergy policy, please refrain from putting ANY candy into the valentines.  Thanks and Happy Valentine's Day!

100th Day of School
We have been switching classrooms and experiencing 100th day activities in all of the first grade classrooms all week in preparation for the 100th day of school on February 14th.  Check out photos of a couple of the activities that your children have been participating in and ask them about the various ways to count to 100.  It's been great fun to go into other classrooms for "special" math!

Xtramath.com and i-ready websites
I have sent home the user names and passwords for the www.xtramath.com website.  If you have access to a computer, please try to have your child go onto this website 3-4 times a week.  It's fast, fun and sends me weekly reports on how your child is doing.  It helps me to determine who needs help and how I can help them.  It also lets me know if all is fine and allows me to challenge children further if need be.  If you need passwords or usernames to this website or any of the i-ready reading or math websites, please let me know and I'll get that information to you right away!  The i-ready reading website is also a favorite and the kids love using it at school when they can!
