Happy Thanksgiving!

Here are some pictures from our CARES assembly the day before the Thanksgiving Day:
First we brainstormed as a class all that we are thankful for this thanksgiving season.
We then decorated a feather, listing all that we are thankful for.
Once gathered at the assembly, our class representative (Chloe) was given the feather, blindfolded, and spun around three times before being set off to "pin the tail on the turkey."

Success!  She did a great job for the class!
After the game, Ms. P came from the Science Center with her pet falcon.  The falcon was recently chosen as our school's mascot.  (The logo is still being created by students).

The assembly ended with a "move it" song lead by the music teachers.

Happy a Thanksgiving to all!

Quick Reminder:
Please remember that Parent teacher Conferences are this Thursday. No school for students.

Check Out Our First Published Stories on Bookcreator

Be a Part of  Our Virtual Writer's Workshop
Below is Room 111's first published book of the year!  After a few weeks of brainstorming, writing, editing and illustrating a story about their favorite moment of our Farm field trip, the students finally have a published e-book for you to enjoy. Become a part of our classroom's virtual Writer's Workshop as you enjoy listening to the stories written, illustrated and recorded by each and every student. The entire non-fiction personal narrative process was quite a journey for the children with a lot of writing, rewriting and editing on paper first, but well worth it in the end!

The Celebration!
After each child had finished publishing their own story on their personal iPad, we had a celebration of their hard work, creativity and writing.  The iPads were cued up to their story and set up around the room.  The children then rotated around the room, listening to each child's story.  When they were finished listening to the story, they wrote a compliment on a sheet of paper placed next to that particular iPad before moving onto the next story.  Not only did they really enjoy listening to their classmates stories, but they also had a sheet (sometimes two sheets) of paper with all the wonderful reviews of their own book to take home with them.

Happy Halloween!

Enjoy the classroom photos from Halloween!  It was a fun afternoon for all!  And be sure to check back to this blog on Monday or Tuesday of next week to hear the classroom's first published book on Bookcreator!  They have been working for weeks on their stories and now it's time to share them.

We decorated our door with Spooky Math Story problems and a One Eyed, One Horned Flying Purple People Eater
